The general responsibilities of these positions will include, but are not limited to;
- Under supervision, respond to wildland fires locally and nationally
- Serve as a crewmember on a twenty person handcrew
- Serve as a crewmember on a Type III or Type VI engine
- Maintain availability for national deployment to fire assignments from May 1st to approximately October 30th
- Participate in fire mitigation projects such as chainsaw operation, thinning, tree felling, chipping, prescribed fire, brush and slash piling, and public education
- Assist with station maintenance such as cleaning, preventative maintenance, rehabilitation and equipment inspections
- Maintain residence with “two hour call back” of Bailey Colorado
- Participate in crew training; daily physical fitness, classroom fire training, and field exercises/simulations
- Must possess mechanical aptitude, verbal communication skills, and written communication skills
- Basic wildland fire certifications- N.W.C.G. S-130, S-190, I-100, L-180
