Wildland Program Engines

Our wild land engine program has seen many changes, updates, and improvements over the last five years. Our district has worked hard to purchase new equipment to better respond to wild land fires. We currently have two engine modules that will be fully staffed and available for the upcoming fire season. The two engines will consist of a type3 engine with a three person crew and a type 6 engine with a three person crew. These two engines will be available nationally for fire assignments from approximately April through November. When not on national fire assignments the engine crews stay very busy in district. The engines assist with medical calls, patrol during high fire danger, help with fuels reduction projects, station and apparatus maintenance, training, and campfire enforcement. They also work to ensure that all local district dry hydrants and other water sources are in proper working order. When local fire conditions reach dangerous levels, the fully staffed engine crews provide us a rapid response to initial attack fires while they are still small. At all times there is fire engine apparatus spread between four stations on the district, to rapidly respond to all local fire calls and emergencies.
